Veterinarian

Kimberly Marrazzo, DVM

Dr. Kimberly Marrazzo has come full circle to the practice that she spent time in when she was a child to joining our practice as a veterinarian. Her involvement in veterinary medicine began very early on when she attended her father’s graduation ceremony from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine when she was 2 weeks old.

Since then, her life has been a journey of living with, learning about, and caring for all animals. Dr. Marrazzo graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science and followed in her father’s footsteps when she earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. GO GATORS!

During her time in veterinary school, Dr. Marrazzo deliberately chose to expose herself to a wide range of experiences to better prepare her for small animal practice. She held leadership positions in various organizations including surgery, companion animal medicine, Students for International Veterinary Opportunities, the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The Animal Rescue Response Team, and also served as a teaching assistant where she taught patient care and clinical skills to fellow veterinary students.

She received numerous awards and certifications in veterinary school including Fear Free Practice Certification, Clinical Small Animal Dentistry Certification, Operations Level Animal Technical Rescue Certification, Veterinary Business Management Certificate, Feline Friendly Handling Certification, Small Animal Clinical Proficiency Award, Zoetis Academic Excellence and Leadership Award, and the Bayer Excellence in Communication Award.

After graduation, Dr. Marrazzo joined a well-respected practice in Tampa and followed that by practicing in New York City. Dr. Marrazzo’ s professional interests include feline internal medicine, surgery, behavior, and diagnostic imaging such as radiology and ultrasonography. In her spare time, Dr. Marrazzo enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, crafting, and traveling.

Dr. Marrazzo’s family include her husband, who is in also a veterinarian, and her three fur babies Gilly (terrier mix), and two cats Toby and Zoey.

Veterinarian

Taylor Coombs, DVM

"Dr. Taylor Coombs’ passion for felines began early, with her first feline friend, Victoria, at age 6. Although she has always had a love for the entirety of animal-kind, felines hold a special place in her heart. A Virginia native, Dr. Coombs attended Virginia Tech University and earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

During veterinary school, Dr. Coombs was awarded The KindredBio American Association of Feline Practitioner’s Student Scholarship for her passion in feline medicine and work with local feral spay neuter programs. She is also a published contributing author for her assistance with pain management techniques for cats with osteoarthritis. Dr. Coombs volunteered in the World Vet’s Student Program where she aided in providing free medical and spay/neuter services to underserved communities in Nicaragua.

In addition, she is a graduate of CuraCore Academy for Integrative Medicine with a certification in Medical Acupuncture for Small and Exotic Animals and an advanced certification in “Catupuncture”, integrative medicine specific to felines.

Dr. Coombs is an AAFP Certified Cat Friendly Veterinarian, and is a certified Fear Free Veterinarian as well. Her professional interests include integrative medicine, dermatology, and feline internal medicine.

When not providing quality care to your furry friends, Dr. Coombs can be found on the water kayaking or in the gym powerlifting. She is excited to be part of an exceptional team who loves cats as much as she does. Her fur babies Bizca and Chestnut are looking forward to new adventures in Florida."

Certified Veterinary Technician

Madeline, C.V.T.

Madeline started working here in August of 2021, but knew from the very beginning that she wanted to help animals. Her greatest inspiration to follow this path was her first cat, Franklin. She was finally able to start her journey in early 2017 where she started volunteering at the local Humane Society in their teen program. One year into this, she was promoted to the Critter Care Program. Madeline began her journey in the veterinary field in 2019 when she started the Veterinary Technician Program at St. Petersburg College, graduated at the end of 2020 with her Associate of Science degree in veterinary technology, and passed the VTNE mid 2021. She loves all animals, but cats have always held a special place in her heart. Right now in addition to working at the Cat Hospital at Palm Harbor, she is in school to get her Bachelor’s Degree in veterinary technology and finish her pre-requisite classes to apply to veterinary school and achieve her long term goal of becoming a veterinarian for wildlife and aquatic species.

Madeline currently has two cats–Darkshine and Baby, two Golden Retrievers– Shasta and Sadie, and two Shih Tzus– Grizzly and Daisy. You can often find a couple of foster kittens tumbling around her house at times as well! When she is not at the cat hospital, Madeline’s interests include trips to Disney, reading, watching movies, drawing, theatre, and attending comic book conventions. She loves discussing sci-fi and fantasy novels, Marvel comics, Star Wars, and her all time favorite book series about feral cats, Warriors by Erin Hunter. She is currently trying to learn swordsmanship.

Madeline loves all the patients that come through the hospital and makes it a goal of hers to connect with all of them in a special way and getting to know their personalities. She enjoys learning new information about how to better herself as a veterinary technician every day to provide the best care for all of the cats.

She graduated from the University of Louisville in 2017 with a BS in communications. Born and raised in Louisville, KY, she always knew she would find her way to the sunshine state after spending many vacations here visiting family while growing up. Laurel joined our team at The Cat Hospital in 2022. She loves being able to be an advocate for those without a voice and could not picture herself in any other line of work. Laurel has always considered herself a “crazy cat lady” and has never had a time in her life when she didn’t have pets. Currently she has two cats- Tsuna and Itachi, one dog- Sega (husky mix) and a leopard gecko named Raja who is almost 10 years old. As you can imagine, no outfit of hers is complete without a layer of fur. Outside of work Laurel loves to spend her time in the water or on the couch, depending on the weather.
